Almost two weeks ago, our base had the opportunity to pray healing over our ministry host. He is hard of hearing, close to being fully deaf. The Lord spoke to one of the guy’s from one of the YWAM teams and asked him to put together a time of prayer and healing over our host. So after many confirmations, obediently he followed.
On Monday, many people fasted in preparation for the time of intercession. During lunch, many of us spent time in prayer over our host and the time we were going to spend in prayer the following day. The Lord filled many with intense and unwavering hope that God was going to show up BIG.
On Tuesday, we all gathered on the front porch at 8:30 am, ready to go to war against the enemy. And the Spirit fell heavy.
As we were praying, the Holy Spirit guided me to Luke 10:18-20 which says, “He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” I spoke this out, as a reminder that we can walk in authority because of the power of the Holy Spirit, and send the enemy back to where he belongs. But even in this rejoicing, it is not our greatest pride— we have citizenship in Heaven!! That is our greatest hope and what we should take pride in.
As we spent time interceding for healing, the Spirit gave people visions, scriptures, words of knowledge, and actions to do. At one point, one of my squadmates washed our hosts feet as we continued to lay hands and pray over him. There were numerous other moments that exhibited the care to detail our God has.
Although his hearing was not restored on this day, God did so much during that time. The body of Christ got to show up fully and walk in the authority that we are called to walk in. Those who doubted got to experience the power of the Spirit and his faithfulness even when it’s not what they expect.
The Lord continues to remind me of Daniel 3:17-18:
“If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
He is able, He will, but even if He does not… He is still faithful.
Yes, the time we spent interceding for healing did not end up how we desired in our flesh. But for me, and many others, it ended in a place of complete trust and hope in Christ.
Would I still trust God even if he never performed another miracle? Would I still place my hope in him even if it was merely based on the truth of who He is, and not all that He does for me? Would you? I encourage you to sit and dwell on these questions. I am too.
I will no longer let my faith in the Father be based on a feeling or an experience.
He is enough even if I see or experience nothing. Just sitting in his presence is enough.
The truth of who God is has got to be enough.
More than enough.
Yes, Hannah, we don’t always experience the great miracles of God firsthand; however, we know He is capable and abler to do whatever He so desires. As for healing, I have experienced that in my own life, time after time: with the eyesight and how He helped me overcome; with the cancer and how He gives me peace of heart and soul; with the shoulder being busted up and how He is enabling healing above the average person with such breaks.
Just sit back and watch — often times God’s great presence witll shine through!!

Yes yes yes!! This is so encouraging and such a good reminder. Thank you for sharing, Mr. Cotton. God is so good!
This is so good. He is faithful to answer all our prayers but not always how we want, expect or in the timing we are looking for. We love how you say your time “ended in a place of complete trust and hope in Christ.” Thank you so much for sharing!!!
